Hello, my name is Rafaël Domingues, I’m 25 years old. I’m part of MIRV team who will do a symposium about Microbial interactions, Resistance and Virulence. I’ll present the following topic: Microbial complexity effect on wine alcoholic fermentation with synthetic ecology approach.
This subject is about the future of wine because global warming and the new way of consuming without sulfite impacts the way of fabrication of wine. For that I’ll use small-scale fermentation to observe different artificial microbial communities with different conditions. Metabolomic approach with RMN, GC-MS analysis. This subject it’s very important for me because I’m from Bordeaux and wine it’s part of the culture of my home town.
Hello, my name is Marie Tillet. I am a second-year master's student in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Poitiers. In recent years, I have discovered a certain attraction to antimicrobial peptides. When I started my master's program, I chose to do an internship on antimicrobial peptides from a cereal weevil. I studied two different peptides, coleoptericin A and diptericin-like. It was quite natural for me to continue my internship this year.
During my internship, I will focus on two main tasks. First, I will express, purify, and analyze the antimicrobial activity of peptides (AMPs). Second, I will study the effects of knocking down colA and dpt-like genes in Sitophilus oryzae using RNAi, assessing gene expression by qPCR, quantifying symbiotic bacteria (FISH, immunolabeling, cytometry), and analyzing cuticle melanization with a hyperspectral camera. This work combines molecular and imaging techniques to explore host-symbiont interactions and antimicrobial defenses.
